Abundance Dickson is a passionate youth advocate and the visionary behind the Flow with Dignity Project. She is a beneficiary of the YouthLab Fellowship under the Menstrual Equity cluster. A passionate and results-driven social impact practitioner dedicated to advancing the health and wellness of adolescent boys and girls, while actively advocating for gender equality and equity. Her work centers on building the capacity of young people in leadership, health, research, and advocacy, leveraging evidence-based research and community-centered interventions to create meaningful change.
With a degree in Zoology and Environmental Biology, she has developed a strong foundation for addressing complex social issues. Over the years, she received multiple awards and certifications for her outstanding contributions to serving humanity and empowering vulnerable populations.
As a mentor and advocate, she is committed to supporting young people in making informed decisions and unlocking their potential. Her expertise extends to social media management and team coordination, enabling me to amplify important messages and foster collaborations.
Abundance joined the YouthLab Fellowship because of her deep passion for advocating and empowering young people within her community. “I joined this fellowship because I am passionate about advocating and empowering young people in my community, and the Youth and Adolescent Lab has given me a platform to learn and also lend my voice in advocating for a positive cause”. For her, the decision to focus on menstrual equity was both personal and purposeful.
Motivated by these experiences at the Youth Lab Fellowship, she launched the Flow with Dignity Project, a community initiative that educates schoolgirls aged 10–16 on menstrual health, hygiene, and management. The project also trains them to make reusable sanitary pads to help reduce period poverty and promote school attendance among girls. So far, the initiative has reached and empowered 290 school girls with accurate information and practical skills, and she continues to expand her outreach to more schools and communities.
Her experience in the YouthLab Fellowship was transformative. “This program has deeply changed my perspectives on advocacy. I learned that when advocating for change, you must first identify your stakeholders, and your message must be compelling and clear to influence policies that bring about real change.”
Beyond menstrual equity, Abundance has contributed significantly to the fight against gender-based violence (GBV). She raises awareness in schools and communities through storytelling and digital platforms, educating people about the effects of GBV and inspiring action. One of her most notable achievements is establishing functional school clubs where she facilitates sessions on sexual and gender-based violence, reporting mechanisms, and the active engagement of boys as allies in ending violence against women and girls.Today, Abundance Dickson stands as a shining example of what it means to turn personal experiences into purposeful advocacy. Through her work, she continues to promote menstrual equity, empower young girls, and inspire a generation of youth advocates to flow with dignity and lead change in their communities.
